I need to know what is ok, and what is NOT ok:
Is steak ok? We only have Elk steak, so it's pretty lean.
Tiff informed me that yams are great, but potatoes are best if used Yukon Gold's.
Cheese - mainly limited mozzerella & parmesan? Or don't include it? It's still healthy right?
Are eggs included in meat group, or are we ok eating full servings of meat AND eggs?
Popcorn - as a treat/snack, maybe use butter spray to eliminate the fat?
Drinks - juice, hot chocolate, even sugar free wylers drink - should these be eliminated & just drink water? Is it considered a treat?
Lots of questions. So, if you have any input on these, please let me know & include any I may be missing. LOVE YOU!
Are you referring to the 10 in 10 list of ok's??? Or just in general? Steak is fine, it's just the portion size that gets you. In general, a healthy portion is the size of a playing card and 1/2 inch thick. In the program I'm doing I include eggs in the meat group. I would consider popcorn a bread. Sugar free drinks sound fine to me, but maybe limit how much - water is best of course so you have room for other calories.
ReplyDeleteAND: Thanks for posting something. I was thinking of doing a post about others posting other than me! Love ya sis!
10 in 10? Thanks for your input.
ReplyDeleteI have wanted to post something but all of my posts would be negative. So I have refrained.
ReplyDelete10 in 10 is the link I sent you that didn't work. That's why I was confused when you asked if an egg was counted as a meat because that's how I count things. Sorry to confuse you.
ReplyDeleteOh, Robyn - Negative posts are allowed too. We're here for you!
ReplyDeleteI say juice is a no go. There's so much sugar in juice and it's just a bunch of empty calories. It increases your insulin levels so quick that you end up just craving more sweets after drinking it. Like Jenni said, sugar free is fine, or just drink water and add lemon and some Stevia, like I said in one of the comments. I say if you're gonna use up calories, eat them, it's more worth while and filling. I love popcorn as a snack, air-popped of course! And they even have this powdered butter stuff in the spice isle that gives it a little flavor. Or you can always do the 100 calorie pack microwave kind, those are good too, although you don't get half as much for the same amount of calories. They have a Kettle corn one that is to die for! Mmmmm. There is sugar free hot chocolate packets out there or I have this healthy hot chocolate recipe somewhere, it's got real cocoa in it and everything. I'll dig it up if you're interested. Elk meat is an EXCELLENT meat to eat. Especially if you get sick of chicken and fish, good way to change it up without getting too heavy or fatty in the protein department. Just like Jenni said though, beef isn't terrible, just watch your portion size...and that goes for everything. Moderation in all things people!!! Ha.
